Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to implement an oral health promotion program to improve oral hygiene performance of adolescents from multicultural families and assess changes in knowledge, awareness and behavior in oral health. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The oral health promotion program was explained to multicultural school teachers and students that were located in the C area at dormitory type technical schools for multicultural adolescents in Korea, and under their consent 44 students participated in the program. Findings: It was verified that the three consecutive dental health promotion programs with immigrated adolescent of multicultural families as the recipients had a positive effect on the dental health knowledge, awareness, and behavior of the students. This is being thought that the research that has operated a dental health promotion program and has evaluated the results of the education with adolescents of multicultural families will have meaning itself in the insufficient current status. It is being expected that this research may be used as base line data to the development of dental health promotion programs for adolescents of multicultural families. Improvements/Applications:There is a lack of research with the theme of dental health management programs, making it difficult to directly compare with this advanced research.

Abstract

Objectives: Outcome-based education systems are executed by setting an education goal, and function as an education quality management system that analyzes such education results and consistently improves the process of achieving education goals. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The core competency of the competency-based education process of clinical dental hygiene is that graduates can perform dental hygiene management as a dental hygienist for patients/ recipients, and in order to evaluate this competency, major detailed competencies were composed into 13 questions and investigated. Evaluation points were granted from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 10, and the evaluations took place before and after class in the form of a self-administered questionnaire. We used a level of significance of p<0.05. Findings: In the major of Dental Hygiene, we meant to operate a competency -based education process, and later evaluate the effect of the education. The self-evaluation points of every detailed competency showed an increase, showing statistical significance except in a few elements. Competency-based education processes are being judged as efficient studying methods where the academic achievement competencies can be developed. Improvements/Applications: This research has its meaning when we provided it. But there has been no comparison group so far, so we must think about the limit of this part.

Abstract

Objectives: This research, with students in the Department of Dental Hygiene as the recipients, means to provide the base line data for educators to grasp how dental hygiene students look upon educators. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The data collected was analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 21.0) program (SPSS Inc. Chicago, IL, USA). The basic factors, school lives, awareness of the images of educators, and the preferred image of educators were analyzed with frequency, and the analysis of educator image awareness according to year took place by a one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by a post-comparison of Turkey. Findings: For the preferred image of educators by the research recipients, comfortable and friendly images were highest at 48%, and for the preferred lecturing method, professors that use various education mediums came in first at 30.3%. The most preferred character of educators was those with passion at 51.3%. This means that the talent and role of university professors are important standards when it comes to influencing a university level of education to the students. Improvements/Applications: This study investigated to part of subjects, it is difficult to generalize.
